WAFCON 2022: 3 Things We Noticed From Super Falcons Victory Over Cameroon Indomitable Lionesses.

The Super Falcons once again showed why they're being called champions when it comes to Women's football by soaring pass the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon yesterday in Casablanca, Morocco.

The Falcons winning goal came in the 57th minute of play, courtesy of an Ifeoma Onumonu's cross which was headed home by Atletico Madrid Feminé's Rasheedat Ajibade.

This crunchy tie yesterday saw Randy Waldrum's girls grind out results to their favour, after a shambolic start to this tournament which saw the lose to the Bayana Bayana.

However the girls have since put aside the defeat, and has gone on to record 2 wins against both Burundi and Botswana, and recently yesterday they grind out a hard fought victory against Cameroon to progress to the semi's.

So what did we noticed from yesterday's game?

•Defensive Organization:

The defence of the falcons marshalled by Captain Onome Ebi and Osinachi Ohale was disciplined and organized enough, to ward of threats from Cameron's key players Njoya Ajara Njout and skipper Gabrielle Onguene.

They were composed and made sure that their keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie wasn't even perturbed, as they restricted the lioness's to few clear cut chances.

•Superb Midfield Organization:

The Midfield trio of Ngozi - Okobi, Christy Ucheibe and Ayinde controlled proceedings in the middle of the park.

We witnessed synergy between the midfield and attack, the creative flare and desire of  both Ngozi and Ucheibe to spring those defense splitting passes was applaudable.

The lone goal would come courtesy of Ngozi Okobi trying to work something up front for Ajibade, although much changed when they were later redrawn.

•Ifeoma Onomonu Got A Lot to do More:

Apart from providing the Assist for Ajibade, we didn't see much of the tall number nine.

She missed a sitter having been put through  by one of the Payne sisters although she was flagged offside, but we're still yet to see her take ons dribble on a one on one situation. Something that she must improve on going forward.

•Rasheedat Ajibade Fills in the void left by Oshoala:

With Oshoala exiting the tournament following a knee injury that she sustained in the  Bayana Bayana game, questions arose as to who'll take up the goal scoring burden left by the Barcelona forward.

However Atletico Madrid Feminé forward Ajibade has rose up to the occasion when no one expected, and she's been absolutely fantastic in this year's tournament.

Out of the 8 goals scored by the falcons in this tournament she's been involved in 5, scoring thrice and providing two Assist.

Having said so, the Super falcons take on the Atlas Lioness of Morocco next week Monday, in that crunchy semifinal tie for a spot in the finals of this year's WAFCON.

Therefore Randy Waldrum would need to get his tactics right, the Super falcons would also need to bring their A game considering how terrifying the atmosphere will be with the presence of the home fans.
