Nottingham Forest: Why Taiwo Awoniyi is Best Gamble for Steve Cooper - Ex player Stan Collomore

Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi is tipped by former Forest man Stan Collomore to build his legacy at the club.

Former Nottingham Forest star Stan Collymore has said that club-record signing Taiwo Awoniyi remains a perfect bargain for Steve Cooper-led side.

Stan also tipped the Super Eagles man to make his mark and legacy in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest who had won the UEFA Champions League twice in their history was in relegation for decades.

As the declined English club gained promotion to the Premier League this season it's seeking to reinforce and build a solid and thick "forest".

The Reds shelled out £17.5m to secure the services of the 24-year-old from Union Berlin and he became their first arrival of the summer as he put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the weekend.

It marked a return to English football for Awoniyi, who began his professional career with Liverpool before leaving for Germany.

Collymore backed the former Golden Eaglets star to impress in the Garibaldi for seasons to come.

“I’m not a betting man – gambling’s one of the few vices I’ve never had, thankfully – but I do like Nottingham Forest’s punt on Union Berlin’s Taiwo Awoniyi,” Collymore noted in his column for the Sunday People.

“The Nigeria star has already had a taste of English football after signing for Liverpool in 2015, but was farmed out on loan to Germany and Belgium before finding a home in Berlin.

“At 24, after scoring 15 goals in 30 games last season, the time is now right for him to find a club at which he can shine and I can’t think of a better place to We the top man than at Forest. With his skill, pace, and confidence, he could prove to be a snip, even at £17.5million,” he added.

There has been great optimistic in Garibaldi that the Nigerian man will deliver as expected, as same he did in Berlin.
