The Nigeria national U-23 men's team had arrived Dar es Salaam Tanzania, for the first leg of the 2023 Africa U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Tanzania.
Prior to this time, the U23 Eagles had opened camp in the city of Ibadan oyo state, and played two friendly games one against Via Football academy and the other against NPfl side Shooting Stars sports club of Ibadan in preparation for this encounter.
However, coach Salisu Yusuf along with a contingent of 18 players and 5 officials, arrived the east African country on Thursday night. The team had a feel of Benjamin Mpaka Stadium, and the players took part in a light training session which lasted for an hour ahead of the encounter with Tanzania on Saturday.
The first leg of the qualifier will hold, Saturday, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium by 2pm, where Nigeria will seek to get a better result especially after the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) task force on youth competitions, Aminu Balele Kurfi revealed that the boys will be rewarded with $20,000 if they pick a win.
The return fixture will be on Saturday, 29 October at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan and the winner of the encounter will progress to the next round of the qualification.
