Why the Super Eagles Alex Iwobi of our Dream may not "come to pass"

After surviving relegation scare with Everton in the just concluded English Premier League season , Nigerian Midfielder has taken to social media to reveal how he feels from surviving the most mentally challenging season of his career.

Alex Iwobi a decorated potential Jay Jay Okocha or Kanu in modern day national team is fast from wiping off the mind of the Super Eagles fans . His decline could be as a result his Arsenal exit due to the arrival of Pepe under Unai Emery. Alex has struggled recently in the Toffies, he has lost his fine form and creative instinct on the pitch, not only for his club but as well his national team. Achieving the Iwobi of our dream would be possible through two ways hard work and becoming tough.

The Everton Struggle and Impact on Iwobi's Decline.

Everton has struggled in recent years battling to be as seen as an average club rather than a small one.

Her situations had caused great cost not only to the likes of Iwobi but also Dele Alli

Alex Iwobi made 30 appearances for the Toffees this term. 28 in the Premier League and 2 in the EFL Cup for Everton who managed a paltry 39 points in 38 games to finish in 16th place 4 points above relegated Burnley .

The former Arsenal midfielder wrote on his verified Facebook account

”The most mentally challenging season of my career so far is over and I’m proud to have come out of the other side Stronger , Sharper , hungrier than ever !” Iwobi concluded.

A challenging season it was for Everton who battled for safety following poor results under Rafael Benitez whose sack and replacement with Frank Lampard did not yield instant turnaround as the blue side of Merseyside looked headed for eviction from the top flight.

National Image Decline

Away from his relegation escape battles with Everton, Alex Iwobi also had a difficult time on the international scene. The Midfielder was sent off in the Super Eagles quarter final loss to Tunisia at the AFCON in Cameroon.

While serving the suspension, Iwobi watched helplessly as the Super Eagles lost the Qatar 2022 World cup qualification playoffs to Ghana.

What the Nigerian lad should do

Lack Tough: Iwobi is known for his soft and slick look, just as Kanu but lacked the football ingenuity of the former Super Eagles Star. Modern footballing is now for the tough. His lack of toughness on pitch has seen his opponent pairs outclassed him.

This factor in modern day soccer has consequencial effect on his abilities on the ball.

Indiscipline: Iwobi just as Marcus Rashford of Manchester United has breed the culture of indiscipline. There no greatness without discipline and no great footballer without discipline.

With strong expectations from the lad by Nigerians, Iwobi was believed to be the replica of Kanu in today Super Eagles. But sense of feelings by Nigerians maybe dashed by now.

Discipline and determination if culturd by the young eagle is the basic foundation for master class footballing.

Alex Iwobi will return to action when he reports for duty with the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the International Friendly games vs Mexico and Ecuador.
